Known to have been used by native inhabitants of Central and North America for over 2000 years; Psilocybe Mexicana is one of the most common strains of shrooms in the west, and was actually the first scientifically studied specimen that led to the identification of psilocybin and psilocin – the compounds primarily responsible for the shroom “high”.
